CHARLESTOWN, MASS. Cal. 31. NSN. Bbl. 3 1/4". An interesting 4-shot concealed hammer pepperbox made between 1849 & 1850 by George Leonard Jr. of Charlestown, Mass. Pistol has a ring cocking trigger with a smaller outer trigger for firing. The barrels do not move and must be unscrewed & removed to cap the nipples. The concealed striker within the frame revolves & fires each barrel individually. The frame has simple flourish & foliate engraving. 2 Sides of the barrel are marked “G. LEONARD JR. CHARLESTOWN PATENTED 1849 CAST STEEL”. CONDITION: iron has a mottled gray patina. 2-Piece wood grips have very minor chipping at the top. Mechanics need adjustment. Bores are good.(01-23154/BF). $500-800.
