EARLY ISSUE U.S.ARMY DA REVOLVER WITH WWI PISTOL RIG. CAL. 45 ACP. S# 4346, only 29 numbers from the NRA Museum example having S# 4317, making this part of the first lot the U.S. Army received during WWI. The polish blued revolver has a matching numbered pinned 5 1/2" barrel, 6 shot fluted cylinder, extractor & two piece walnut grips (right panel is numbered). Sides of hammer have concentric rings. Half-moon front sight. Frame has "GHS" Major Gilbert H. Stewart initials & lanyard ring on butt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Mills woven Model 1912 pistol belt with 3 pouch 1917 revolver case, G & K 1918 dated 45 caliber revolver holster with leather thong & inspected "A.C.", June 1918 dated Mills casualty card case & 1918 dated US Model 1917 C.T. Bolo knife with scabbard. US Army Regulation whistle attached to US marked compass. 6 Half moon clips. Rig items in generally good to very good condition with staining, wear, & verdigris on holster. Blade of knife appears to be sharpened & refinished. Whistles & compass good with tarnish & oxidation. CONDITION: very good to near excellent original blue finish with fading finish around muzzle, light marks around barrel pin, faint cylinder drag line, light mix of pinprick patina on back strap; scattered light marks throughout. Very good grips with light marks. Very good bore with light pitting near muzzle. (24-1778/MD). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
