BARS". 28” x 37” One sided “Stars & Bars” dates early 1861 when Confederacy was hopeful of Kentucky & Missouri secession to make 13 states. Kentucky & Missouri produced so many troops that most battleflags do have 13 stars, but the national flag stopped at 11. Machine sewn, lightweight wool blend, 4” cotton stars are pasted to canton in whimsical random design, selvedge edges to red bars. Attractive flag framed to show configuration of canton in upper left as was proper to display in Civil war era. CONDITION: fair to good overall, framed w/ pressure mount 36” x 46”, red color is good, blue has faded to gray. Reductions in canton & white bar as seen in photo. (02-17519/JS). $7,000-9,000.
