Cal. 60. NSN. This is an interesting original configuration on altered 1855 Harpers Ferry stock slenderized on butt with small 3-screw brass butt plate and screwed brass nose cap, 26.5" smoothbore barrel with only "V" proof visible, Richmond/Harpers Ferry rear sight, and Richmond barrel bands with large "U"s struck towards center. Lock is early 1862 dated Richmond. Ramrod is 27.5" straight Richmond type. Internally, barrel has Harpers Ferry proofs on back of barrel and below bolster. Added Confederate C&R proofs are observed on back of barrel and replaced/repaired breech plug and bottom of barrel. "Q" "Cleaned and Repaired" proof stamped on stock forward of triggerguard. This is among the most unusual, complete, original, and unaltered Confederate short rifle or musketoon I have encountered. (01-26905/JS). ANTIQUE. $4,000-6,000.
