BUILT CE GRADE SXS SHOTGUN. Caliber: 410. 3". Serial Number: F 206112. The original A.H. Fox guns are considered an American classic. The A.H. Fox was brought back to life by CSM of New Britain, Connecticut in 1993. The 410 bore was introduced in 1995. Barrels: 26" of Chromox Fluid Steel w/ brass front bead. Right barrel is marked "CUSTOM BUILT FOR J. D. NELSON M.D. MADE TO ORDER - A.H. FOX". Scalloped boxlock action w/ sculpted fences. Engraving features two flying pheasants on right side, two woodcock on left side, mallard on trigger guard and a portrait of Doctor Nelson's setter on the receiver bottom. Scenes are surrounded by vine type foliate scroll. Double triggers, ejectors. Ebony tipped schnable forearm and round knob stock of fine Turkish Circassian walnut have high gloss finish. LOP: 13 15/16" over a checkered wooden buttplate. Forearm, wrist and ears of stock have fine hand checkering. DAC: 1 3/4". DAH: 2 11/16". Stock has a slight cast on. WEIGHT: 5 lbs, 11.4 oz. Choke Constriction Right: .018, Left: .021. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: yellow canvas covered case with leather trim and purple velour fitted interior. Inside of case has A.H. Fox label w/ motto "The Finest Gun In The World". Case contains nickel snap caps, nickel oil bottle, two piece ebony cleaning rod, cleaning accessories in a black leather pouch, cloth gun covers and a case key. Lot also includes the original cardboard shipping box, containing original packing material. CONDITION: near excellent, retaining over 98% wood & metal finish. Stocks show a very few small handling marks. Bright near excellent bores. (25-957/DS). MODERN. $16,000-22,000.
