44R SEMI-AUTO CARBINES. BOTH: Cal. 44 Mag. Gun 1: S# 103-13316. Gun 2: S# 103-13315. Bbls. 18 1/2" with sights of brass bead fronts plus folding rears with white diamonds. Mfg. 1984 (1961-1985) per noted RENE Reference Guide yet factory letter signed by CEO Michael Fifer states they were roll marked Sept. 29, 1982. Factory letter states that Ruger announced there would be 1,800 units at $495 with American walnut stocks and metal buttplates (error in letter as Ruger used Celcon plastic buttplate for these, plus for all carbines starting in 1976). Factory Model number 01013 and catalog designation of YR25-44R. Approx. 5,000 Anniversary models produced per noted RENE Reference Guide as a result of cleaning up unsold inventory. Discontinuance was caused mainly by competition from noticeably less expensive Remington Model 742's aggressively marketed nationwide at large sporting goods outlets, etc. Shipped by Ruger in 2003 per Ruger website info; likely the result of a benefit auction. Anniversary markings on right side of barrel next to receiver plus "INC." and "warning marks" with its Southport address. Last variation with walnut stocks having square cut at forends and pewter colored Anniversary disks on right side of buttstocks. Cartridge release buttons at loading ports plus steel cartridge guides in top front of receivers held by 2 rivets rather than screws which were often confused by consumers to be a scope base provisions yet factory drilled and tapped at rear of barrels plus rear of receivers for scope mounting. In high demand as compact, fast handling brush hunting carbines that weigh less fully loaded (internal 4 rd. magazines) than the popular lever action carbine weighs empty. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: original 25th Anniversary marked boxes with packaging to include original manuals (no red inked "out of production" marks) dated 4/82; outer mailing sleeve for #2 mailed to FFL in CO. Factory letter collectively listing both rifles plus supporting above information. CONDITION: there may be an occasional very faint stock handling mark but generally both are near excellent appearing new and unfired.
