SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga., 2 3/4". S# 60058. Under U.S. Ordnance Department's instructions, Remington concentrated its WWII era shotgun production on the Model 11 autoloader. Consequently, the Model 31 is one of the scarcest military used pump shotguns of the time. Archives show that only 8,902 Model 31's of riot or training types were delivered to the government between 1940-1944. Trench version Model 31's were never produced. Bbl. 20" cylinder bore, left side has matching serial number followed by "PL" (6/42) date code. Small round grooved forearm and pistol grip walnut stock with original buttplate. Left side of stock has crossed cannon acceptance stamp. CONDITION: very fine, retaining 97% original blue showing light slide wear with small spots on action. Original wood finish shows scattered handling marks and mildew spots. (22-4151/DS). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
