2 VOLCANIC LEVER ACTION PISTOL. Cal 41. S# 2744. Manufactured between 1857-1860 after the breakup of Volcanic Arms Company by newly formed New Haven Arms Company, continued making same design for the self-contained "rocket ball" cartridges. Standard configuration 8" octagonal barrel, integral spring loaded magazine, "Volcanic" dropped in address "NEW HAVEN CONN" / PATENT FEB 14 1854" stamped in two lines on top flat, fixed notch rear sight, pinched post front sight, brass frame, ivory grips. CONDITION: fine overall as refinished, reblued, silver plated frame after custom engraving of 2 patriotic American eagle panel scenes, old replacement ivory grips well fit, left side has small putty repair. Number 169 stamped on lever in later font. Mechanics good, crisp rifled bore. Accompanying brass bound casing is very good, green baize lined. (01-26640/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-5,000.
