COLT 1855 ROOT REVOLVER. Cal. 28. S# 12851. Standard configuration of 2nd model Colt Root revolver manufactured 1856, 3.5" octagonal barrel, 5-shot cylinder, unique two-line barrel address with pointing hand. Custom engraved and plated in New York style after manufacture and ivory grips. Presentation plaque on casing lid is not old as are the initials and "CSA" on grips. CONDITION: very good as refinished and plated, gold on cylinder, hammer, and rammer about 30%, silver is 80% plus. Mechanics need attention, cylinder does not advance when cocked, good rifled bore with scattered areas of pitting. Custom case is very good with brass reproduction flask and reworked 2-cavity mold.
