Cal. 7MM Rem. Mag. S# 93065. Bbl. 24" sporter weight without provision for iron sights; top engraved with "CHUCK'S CUSTOM GUN STOCKS" plus caliber engraved on left near receiver. Commercial FN Belgian action made 1955-1959 in Mauser 98 style but without charging slot on left rail. Bolt shroud is plain as safety is on right side integral to its adjustable single stage trigger. Bolt body, extractor, bolt stop and follower are nicely jeweled. Bolt handle is swept back with round knob having flattened and checkered bottom. Vintage Redfield twist in scope mount set with 4 screw capped 1" scope rings holding matte finished Leupold 3-9 VARI-X IIc Duplex reticle scope. Hinged floor plate on contoured trigger guard assembly plus action drilled and tapped for receiver sight; plug screws installed. Spectacular stock with distinctive roll over cheek piece that has a dark brown plastic elliptical insert at top front of comb which is lightly touched by the cocking piece of the bolt when fully withdrawn. Fitted with Pachmayr ventilated White Line recoil pad and highly figured contrasting forend tip and scalloped grip cap (both with light wood spacers) having brass oval with letters "HSR". Noted stock maker Chuck Norman was known to work with red maple (10-15 stocks per year) and this appears to be nicely figured red maple; not sure of the wood or its maker even after internet research. The barrel channel is neatly ink stamped with the same maker info as on top of the barrel. Workmanship of the stock is of the highest order with especially fine skip line checkering. Most notable feature of the stock is its deeply carved Fleur de Lis (8 total) at the end of each checkering panel that are within a textured background. Fitted with standard detachable sling swivels having a Brownell made in Germany Latigo light tan sling. CONDITION: Stock has some especially light handling marks; balance of rifle is near excellent including bore and scope set. (25-5609/NW). MODERN. $500-750.
