RIFLE. Cal. 257 Roberts. S# 19638. Bbl. 24". Model 70 bolt action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1939. Bbl. exhibits standard factory markings denoting the model and cal. designations (left) and Winchester's mfg. information (right). Left side of the receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, with the S# marked on the right side of the receiver. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for on the bolt, extractor, and follower, which have been cleaned and polished in-the-white. Custom finely figured 1-piece maple stock features a dark wood forearm tip and flared pistol grip, right handed Monte Carlo cheek piece, brass washed steel sling swivel studs, red and black synthetic spacers, and a Weatherby ventilated brown rubber recoil pad. Ramped and brass beaded blade front sight with dovetailed flip-up U-notch rear sight. Top of receiver features a matte grooved band, and is factory drilled and tapped with 2 plug screws. Aftermarket bolt shroud with lever type safety. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear at the muzzle, some scattered spots of light surface oxidation, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Bolt exhibits a bright appearance, with scattered spots of age related discoloration present on the bolt knob. Bright bore, exhibiting scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Stock shows some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (26-132/MLW). CURIO. $500-800.
