AND EXTRA BARREL. Cal. 30-06. S# 79-93122. Bbl. 22" with banded (flutes on sides of band) user changeable white Patridge front sight and folding leaf on factory raised rib at rear. Mfg. 1985 (1968-1992) with tang safety and controlled feed claw extractor. Extensively customized to takedown configuration with high quality synthetic stock of wood appearance having sling studs plus Pachmayr Decelerator pad. Professional alteration exhibiting an ingenious design with superior workmanship. Barrel threads changed to interrupting profile for faster barrel changes. Action and barrel are glass bedded into stock set. Longest component is just under 24" so entire package fits in its compact aluminum carry case. Second barrel set is not by Ruger and chambered in 35 Whelen Improved (nicely engraved caliber designation on barrel); similar to first barrel but without sling stud or sights. Finish of metal is satin black that appears an epoxy type coating rather than bluing. Bridges of receiver have been milled flat precluding the use of Ruger rings; attached are Talley bases for its Talley, lever release 1" scope rings. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: near excellent (including bore) 35 Whelen Imp. 22" barrel set and Talley scope rings; both referenced previously. Mezzi aluminum carry case (26"x13.5"x5" exterior) with combination locks and padded interior allowing entire package (plus scope) to be carried in the case. Wonderful compact set suitable for any North American game. CONDITION: general, near excellent appearance with some finish loss on trigger guard / floorplate assembly plus around the scope bases. Appears the addition of the scope bases was done after the major conversion was completed. Torx screws retaining the scope bases are not correct; secure tightening cannot be accomplished. Drilled and tapped holes and the screw threads all look fine, but they are not a match. Easy solution would be to change its approximate 6-48 sized screws to the popular (stronger) 8-40 size. Very slight bolt wear from normal functioning. Near excellent bore and stock set. (25-753/NW). MODERN. $3,500-4,500.
