BOLT-ACTION SPORTER. Cal. 7.5 Swiss. S# 182312. Numbers match on receiver, barrel, magazine, rear sight and buttplate. Bbl. 22". Rifle is a model 1889 Swiss straight pull bolt action which has been converted to a slide action(pump) sporter by the addition of a brass tube in place of the wooden forend which mounts a grooved slide handle operating the bolt by means of a push rod. The original bolt knob and cocking ring have been removed. There is no provision for a safety. The original 12 round non detachable magazine was retained. The rear sight has been reduced in height and is graduated to 400 meters. The original inverted V front was remounted on the shortened barrel. The original Walnut stock has been heavily modified and now is fitted with a thumb hole which serves to protect the thumb from the rearward travel of the bolt. The stock has numerous fillers of walnut and bedding compound . CONDITION: stock has a refinish with light wear and scattered handling marks. Metal retains about 70% of its thinning original finish. Fair worn bore turning dark in the grooves. The Collection of Curtis H Halvorson. (23-5953/RW). MODERN. $200-400.
