BENCHREST RIFLE WITH HEAVY BARREL BY B.W. DARR. Cal. 32-40. S# 55284. Bbl. 30 1/8". Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle originally mfg. by Winchester in 1892 and later fitted with a custom heavy bbl. produced by B.W. Darr (Barry Darr). Top of the massive rnd. stainless steel heavy bbl. is marked "B.W. DARR", with "371" marked horizontally above vertical ".32 . 40/ 11 . 21 . 77 SP./ 1:16" markings on the underside. Receiver, breechblock, and lever exhibit a case colored finish. Hammer exhibits a blue finish. 1-piece nicely grained perch belly style wood stock with finely checkered buttplate. Stock has split at the wrist and exhibits epoxy bedding along the edges of the tangs. Bbl. features an aluminum benchrest and is drilled and tapped with x2 sets of plug screws, x1 set featuring a sight block. Action features an adj. set trigger. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: broken section of buttstock. CONDITION: case colored parts retain fair amounts of their finish, retaining light coloring and exhibiting scattered spots of light surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Bbl. shows some superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, to include the set trigger. Aside from the aforementioned split through the wrist, stock exhibits few light superficial handling marks overall.
