PACHMAYR WITH SUPERB ENGRAVING AND RELIEF GOLD INLAY BY RICHARD BOUCHER. Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 9972. The late Richard Boucher did a considerable amount of work for Pachmayr in the 1960s and 1970s. This nicely embellished gun has 26" barrels marked for skeet 1 and 2 chokes. Breech ends are engraved with 3" triangles of simple scroll surrounding game scenes with birds in relief gold. A quail takes wing in a desert environment on the left, and a ruffed grouse erupts through birch trees on the right. Gold bands are around the breech ends and muzzles. Coin-finished flat-side model 21 action with non-automatic safety and a gold-plated single selective trigger has all factory markings on the engine-turned watertable. Action is engraved with full coverage on a on a varying-size simple scroll with some semi-relief floral highlights within gold wire-inlaid borders. Game scenes on sides of the action continue the barrel theme with two vignettes of quail in the desert on the left and ruffed grouse in the birch and alders on the right. Trigger plate features a fine scene of two relief gold pheasants, one falling from the sky as another flies off, in woodlands with conifers in the background. This scene is signed "BOUCHER". A pointer head is on the trigger guard bow. Blued top lever has a nicely pierced and scroll-sculpted thumb piece. The quality of this attractive work is very fine, with softened details in gold of birds and good bulino shading of backgrounds. Original factory straight grip buttstock made of nicely crotch-figured American walnut measures 14-1/8" over checkered wood butt. Point pattern checkering is at grip, and a large gold oval engraved with the monogram "RLN" is on the toeline. The matching unbraced beavertail ejector forend has engine turned iron and the usual "J" spring and knurled button secondary releases. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .624. R .625.
