ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-30. S# 144093. Bbl. 24 1/4". Model 1894 lever action rifle mfg. by Winchester in 1897. Left side of the Model 64 replacement bbl. exhibits standard markings denoting Winchester's mfg. information, as well as the model and cal. designations. Top of the bbl. is marked with a "P" within an oval proof towards the breech, indicating its mfg. as a replacement bbl. Upper receiver tang is marked "MODEL 1894/ -WINCHESTER-/ PAT.AUG.21.1894". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Model 64 pattern plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with grooved steel buttplate. Wood furniture has been sanded and refinished at one time. Toeline of buttstock and underside of forearm cap feature sling swivel bases. Apparent custom ramped and brass tipped blade front sight with dovetailed flip-up U-notch rear sight. CONDITION: receiver retains fair amounts of its original factory blue finish, with the balance exhibiting wear and thinning fading to gray patina, consistent light pitting, and scattered superficial handling marks. Left side of receiver exhibits a series of 4 indentations. Hammer, trigger, lever, and buttplate have faded to a gray patina, with the buttplate exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild surface oxidation. Bbl., mag. tube, and forearm cap retain large amounts to the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some spots of wear, scattered areas and streaks of lacquer, as well as some superficial handling marks overall. Mag. tube screw slot has been widened, with the hanger having faded to a gray patina. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Forearm shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. Buttstock exhibits some superficial handling marks, with 3 repairs present on the left side of the wrist, and 1 larger repair on the right. Buttstock exhibits 2 long cracks, one stemming from the upper receiver tang, and the other the lower tang. (01-29185/MLW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
