BENCH RIFLE. Cal. 50. NSN. Bbl oct to rnd measuring 30 1/2"; 1 7/16" across muzzle. Overall bbl length w/ false muzzle is 32". Beaded post globe front sight w/ long strap style peep rear sight. Top bbl flat is marked "D.H. HILLIARD / CORNISH / N.H.". As noted in "American Gunsmiths" by Frank Sellers. Hilliard, David Hall, underhammer guns, Cornish, N.H. 1842-1877. Bottom flat is marked "621 1/4" and "1808". Underhammer action. Single set trigger. Cheekpiece walnut stock w/ iron crescent buttplate and finger curl trigger guard. Cheekpiece has an oval brass plate. Right side of stock is stamped "S.W. ALLEN / 1868". Right ear of stock is double stamped "C W ALLEN". WEIGHT: 18 lb 8.6 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: short bullet starter, single cavity bullet mold, brass plate, and approx 22 .500 dia cast bullets. CONDITION: bbl has lightly worn brown finish showing some dark spots. Original stock finish shows light wear w/ scattered dents and marks. Sound action and trigger. Bore is generally bright w/ lightly worn rifling showing a very light ring approx 1/2" from muzzle.
