1) MAIN GAUCHE. Overall length: 21". Blade length: 14 1/2". A good example of a main gauche left hand dagger used in the left hand when fighting w/ a sword in the right hand. This dagger has some early attributes but may be a very early Victorian copy. Blade has a single central fuller. Iron guard w/ dbl. downturned 6 1/2" crossguard w/ a loop guard in the center. Lobed iron pontil. Very well executed brass wire wrapped grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina w/ a layer of red oxidation. Hilt has a dark overall patina. Brass grip has a rich, deep, mellow mustard patina.
2) WAR HAMMER. Overall length: 18". Head is 6 5/8" in length. A 19th century war hammer that has a spike at the top w/ a flattened, serrated hammer face & a 4" curved spike in back of the hammer face. Chamfered oak haft w/ iron butt cap. CONDITION: head has a dark overall patina as does the butt cap. Haft shows light to moderate wear w/ some rounding of the corners.
3) AX HEAD. Overall length: 14 1/2" w/ a 7" cutting edge. A massive ax head of early English form w/ a lg. triangular eye & a deep 3 1/2" butt. The top edge tapers up at an angle to the toe. The beard tapers down exceedingly sharply to the heel. The cutting edge is about 8" w/ a normal perceptible bevel. The overall bit has a very exaggerated form. There is a maker’s stamp on 1 face that is illegible. CONDITION: ax head has an overall dark brown patina w/ areas of shallow pitting. (02-16673-29/BF). $500-800.
