Cal. 30-06. S# P.B.1772. Bbl. 24". Bbl. is marked on the right side w/ crown over "VAR", drawing number, dated "4-61" & crown over "DK". Throat gauges: 1.0. Muzzle gauges: 3.0. No import mark is visible. These M1 Garand rifles were manufactured in Italy by Beretta for Denmark & sold to Denmark to augment the initial 20,000 M1s supplied as aid from the United States. The rifle was known in Danish service as the 7.62mm Gevaer M/50. All visible parts markings are "PB" except the unmarked operating rod & the "SA" marked bolt. The receiver is marked on the top rear "crown" over "FKF", "Nr." & the S#. Stamped trigger guard. Buttstock is European hardwood & marked only at the belly w/ number "3335054". Front & rear handguards are black walnut. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Danish bayonet w/ 9 3/4" fullered blade. Left ricasso is marked crown "FKF" & "1955". Handle including grooved brown plastic grips appears the same as the US M-1 bayonets. Matching green plastic scabbard w/ metal throat & belt hook is marked on front. Bayonet & scabbard appear unissued. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework type finish w/ light wear & scattered small handling marks. Glass bedding at floorplate & rear of trigger guard. Metal retains a very large amount of the original parkerized finish w/ light wear & handling marks. Bore has lightly worn lands w/ appearance of frosting in grooves. (25-1654/RW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
