SHOT MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 11x51R. S# 64324. Numbers match on bbl. and buttstock. Bbl. 35 1/2". Bbl. is marked on top over chamber with Danish crown. Bayonet lug on right front of bbl. These rifles were originally mfg. for a rimfire cartridge but were converted in 1896 to take a longer centerfire round. The breech block was modified to centerfire. This breech block has the rimfire firing pin hole at the 6 o'clock position plus the center hole with firing pin. The breech block is equipped with a firing pin retractor. The receiver is marked on the left side with the Royal Crown cipher / "M-1867". Receiver tang is marked "KJOBEN-HAVNS TOJHUUS" and dated "186?" The rifle also has crown acceptance marks throughout. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2100 meters with offset volley notch. The middle band carries a small disk on left side for use in conjunction with the volley notch. Inverted V front sight. The breech block is equipped with a firing pin retractor. Sliding extractor. Cleaning rod is present. Walnut stock set includes forend with 3 bands retained by springs. Sling swivel is carried on the middle band. Buttstock has approximately 1/2" diameter unmarked brass disk on the right side. Buttstock is marked with boxed "G.D." near buttplate tang. CONDITION: stock set has original finish with the moderate wear, staining and handling marks expected for long careful service. Tiny 1" crack behind trigger guard tang. Forend shows scuffing on right side in front of lower band. Bbl. retains most of its original blue. Furniture is turning gray and patina. Receiver shows a modest amount of case colors. Balance of action parts are in the white. Very good shiny bore with sharp lands. (01-25199/RW). ANTIQUE. $400-600.
