RIFLE BY H. SCHEIRING JR. OF FERLACH WITH SCOPE. Cal. 7mm Rem Mag. S# 197. This finely appointed rifle has 27" tapered octagon barrel with integral rib. Center portion of rib is milled away forming quarter rib and front sight ramp. Quarter rib is scroll engraved and fitted with QD scope bases and single folding leaf rear sight. Scroll engraved front ramp holds gold bead. Maker's name and address is on top of barrel. Barrel flats are stamped with Ferlach nitro proofs and caliber. Coin finished under lever opening Franz Jaeger type tipping locking block single shot action features non-automatic safety and set trigger. Action is engraved with nicely cut open shaded scroll surrounding deep relief game scene on bottom of a gold inlaid chamois in alpine terrain. Sideplates are also engraved with deep relief scenes but without gold. A roaring red stag and hind are in a clearing on left side. Right side depicts a pair of ibex on rocky mountainside. Engraving quality is quite good; no signature is found. Opening lever is blued and engraved with a monogram "MJB". Sculpted pistol grip buttstock made of very finely figured and marbled European walnut measures 14-1/4" over black rifle pad. Stock features humpback comb, fluted Tyrolian cheekpiece, chin strap transition to grip and carved fish scales in the place of checkering. Matching slim ejector forend with pronounced schnabled tip has Deeley release. There is a push button slide in iron to block ejectors from functioning. A brown leather sling with rubber backing is included. Rifle is fitted with Zeiss Diatal 6X scope with cross hair reticle in QD rings that are engraved matching action. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: import papers and some other advertising showing pictures of this type of rifle. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, very close to "As New" with only a very few handling and assembly marks in all fine factory finishes. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically fine. Set trigger needs adjustment. Scope is fine with some scratches and marks on tube from repositioning in rings; optically clear. (25-1525/MGM). MODERN. $6,000-10,000.
