NICKELED MARLIN 1892 RIFLE. Cal. 32 RF or CF with a CF firing pin. S# 81391. This wonderful little gift to “Jack / From / Billy / 93” was manufactured the same year (1893) and was inscribed with the presentation on the smooth crescent steel buttplate. It is fitted with a 24-inch octagonal barrel that has a full tube magazine, a combination bead front sight, semi buckhorn rear sight & Lyman combination tang sight. The factory engraved receiver features a No. 3 style engraving pattern likely by Conrad Ulrich. The left face has a vignette of a woodland scene with a whitetail buck with a well-executed arabesque scroll engraving and fancy geometric borders with the right face engraved en suite. A complimenting engraving is present on the upper and lower receiver, bolt, breech end of the barrel, & nose cap. Mounted with a nicely figured flame grain fancy American walnut stock set that has factory B style checkering on the serpentine pistol grip buttstock and matching forearm. CONDITION: Overall attractive little factory nickeled presentation rifle with the barrel and magazine retaining approximately 90% of its finish with some pinprick flaking. The buttplate finish has traces of nickel remaining. The wood retains nearly all of it original finish with some scratches and scattered handling marks. Front sight is missing the bead.
