TYPE III U.S. FLINTLOCKMUSKET. Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 44.75", round. Lock is marked "US" over an American eagle / Springfield with 1812 date behind hammer. Three-band-fastened walnut stock with iron fittings and button-tipped ramrod. Buttplate is dated "1812." CONDITION: metal has faded to a mottled brown. Stock has an age-darkened, worn appearance with dents and marks. Right side of forearm is cracked beneath forward bbl. bands. Lock and tang areas show small chips. Functioning lock.
