MODEL OF 1914 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 11.25mm (45 ACP). S# 891. Bbl. 5". Model of 1914 "Kongsberg Colt" semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Kongsberg Vapenfabrikk arsenal during the third year of production (1919). A total of approx. 95 pistols were produced in 1917, 505 in 1918, and 550 in 1919, totaling only approx. 1,150 for the first three years of production, as is found on page 174 of "Colt .45 Government Models (Commercial Series) 1912-1970", by Charles W. Clawson. The left side of the slide is marked with a crowned monogram of King Haakon and crowned Kongsberg crest above "11,25m/m AUT. PISTOL M/1914", followed by "No 891". Right side of the slide is marked with the year of mfg. "1919" above a Haakon Finne final inspection proof. Left side of the frame is marked with a "CU INC OMAHA NE" import mark beneath the grip panel. The slide features a polished blue finish, with the frame exhibiting a duller less polished blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece double diamond checkered wood grips. Standard fixed half-moon blade front sight, with dovetailed square notch rear sight. All visible S#s are matching save for on the extractor and recoil spring plug. Bbl. and safety lock S# exhibit a different style font. MAGS: 1 early 2-tone 7-rd. with lanyard staple on floorplate. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: correct unmarked brown leather holster. CONDITION: metal components retain good original blue finish, showing wear and thinning that is fading to gray patina and scattered superficial handling marks overall. Slide shows some minor superficial dents. Grip straps and mainspring housing exhibit moderate wear and thinning to gray patina. Grip safety appears to have been lightly cleaned, showing a mellow gray patina overall. Very bright bore, showing some patches and streaks of mild pitting. Proper manual mechanics. Grips are good, with some smoothing and scattered handling marks. Holster remains malleable, showing scattered marks from handling and storage overall. An early 3-digit example of a desirable Norwegian Kongsberg pistol. (24-5548/MD/MLW). CURIO. $3,200-4,800.
