& ELECTRIC MODEL 1902 MODIFIED "PAPA" NAMBU SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 8mm Nambu. S# 1693. Bbl. 4 3/4". First variation Model 1902 Modified "Papa" Nambu semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Tokyo Gas & Electric under contract for the Imperial Japanese Navy. The top of the frame is marked with the Tokyo Gas & Electric "TGE" logo, with Kanji characters on the left denoting "Army Type", with Kanji characters on the right denoting the model designation above a Japanese naval anchor proof and the S# "1693". Front of grip frame recess also exhibits a naval anchor proof. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the trigger, mag. release button, sear bar retainer pin, as well as the bolt lock / striker spring guide, which are strawed. Bolt, firing pin, and locking block are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with tangent V-notch rear sight, graduated 1-5. Rear of frame features a hinged lanyard loop. Most numbers are matching and include the frame, trigger guard, bbl. / bbl. extension, bolt, firing pin, locking block, bolt lock / striker spring guide, rear sight, as well as the grips. Remaining parts are mismatched, with the recoil spring guide and cocking knob matching via "1304". MAGS: 1 non-matching (S# 2614) 8-rd. mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brown leather Type 14 pattern clamshell holster. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, with areas of varying degrees of oxidation and pitting present overall. Rear grip strap exhibits consistent moderate pitting and oxidation, with the bottom of the front grip strap and grip safety lever exhibiting moderate dark pitting. Strawed parts show varying degrees of wear and thinning, with worn areas showing through to gray patina and scattered spots of age related discoloration. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining good rifling throughout. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting wear, scattered handling marks, and areas of crazing, with a small hole present on the right side towards the toe. Leather sewn rim of lid shows crazing and some losses, with a small tear present on the right side of the ammunition pouch closure flap. Closure flap strap shows moderate age related cracking.
