1) Model 1971 Vetterli-Vitali Bayonet. 20 3/8" bright fullered blade. 25 3/8" overall. Blade is marked on right ricasso "TOBINO". Crossguard is marked w/ serial number. Crossguard w/ muzzle ring has curved quillon. Black composite grips secured by two rivets. Catch has the long spring. Brown leather scabbard was originally black. Brass tip & throat. CONDITION: blade has areas of peppery oxidation & light wear. Balance of metal is gray & patina. Grips have light wear. Scabbard has dull look from black finish having been removed. Brass parts have pleasing patina w/ wear & handling marks. 2) Scarce Model 1891/97 Carcano Troop Special Bayonet. 11 7/8" blued fullered blade. 16 5/8" overall. Bayonets have unique transverse locking catch on top of the pommel. Bayonet is marked only w/ serial number "BF5297" on left side of crossguard. Smooth hardwood grips retained by two rivets. Black leather scabbard is marked on back "A.C.T. 1916 P.S.". Scabbard has brass tip & throat. CONDITION: bayonet retains traces of original worn blue, turning gray. Grips have light wear. Scabbard has a good appearance w/ light wear, flexing & scuffing. Brass parts may be period replacements, turning patina. 3) Model 1891 Carcano Bayonet. 11 3/4" blued fullered blade. 16 1/8" overall. Blade is marked on left ricasso w/ "TERNI" in oval. Crossguard marked w/ serial number. Smooth hardwood grips secured by two rivets. Black leather scabbard & frog. Brass throat & tip. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened & shows grinding marks. Traces of original blue are evident, turning gray & patina. Balance of metal has worn patina'd appearance. Grips have extensive wear & staining. Scabbard & frog have wear & flexing, although stitching remains tight. Brass parts turning patina. 4) Model 1938 Folding Bayonet. 6 7/8" blued fullered blade. 11 3/8" overall. Bayonet is marked only w/ "PS" in oval & serial number on top of handle behind muzzle ring. Bayonet was designed to be carried folded on the rifle w/ the alternative of having a conventional scabbard. Scabbard is blued steel. Scabbard is black finished steel w/ belt loop on back. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: extra blued steel scabbard w/ hook for leather frog. Scabbard is unmarked. CONDITION: lightly worn metal has 50% of its original thinning blue w/ notable plumb hues. Grips have moderate wear & handling marks. Scabbard retains 70% of its flaking black finish. Spare scabbard has 50% of its original blue, turning gray w/ scratches & handling marks. (02-24537-15/RW).
