1) Type 18 Murata 1885 Bayonet. 14 1/2" bright fullered blade. 19 1/4" overall. Blade appears to have been shortened & slightly reshaped at the tip compared to the example noted in "BAYONETS / FROM JANZEN'S NOTEBOOK" by Jerry Janzen. Crossguard w/ curved quillon is marked on right side w/ Imperial "mum". Left side of crossguard has "4 ? 7". Smooth hardwood grips. Left grip is replacement. Right grip has partly legible Japanese characters. Scabbard is not present. CONDITION: metal parts have turned overall gray & patina w/ moderate wear. Grips have wear & scattered handling marks. 2) Type 22 Murata 1889 Type Two Bayonet. This bayonet was redesigned from the Type One to give a longer grip. 11" bright fullered blade. 14 5/8" overall. Bayonet marked only w/ very faint partial serial number at end of pommel. Curved quillon. Bayonet has very short smooth hardwood grips & an extended steel pommel. Unmarked steel scabbard. CONDITION: worn metal is turned mostly gray & patina w/ spots of light oxidation. Scabbard has wear, oxidation & fine pitting throughout. 3) Type 30 Arisaka Bayonet. 15 5/8" bright fullered blade. 20" overall. Right ricasso is marked w/ the interlocking circles of the Tokyo Arsenal. Bayonet is earlier production & carries the serial number "160454" on top of grip. Smooth hardwood grips retained by two screws. Curved quillon. Blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened & shows light wear w/ peppery oxidation. Balance of metal turning gray & patina. Grips have moderate wear & handling marks. Scabbard has traces of blue turning gray w/ numerous shallow dents throughout & remnants of white painted "28" rack number. 4) Very Late Production Type 30 Bayonet. 15" non-fullered blade. 19 1/2" overall. Blade is marked on right ricasso w/ the "TOYADA JIDOSHOKI SEISAKUSHO" & the Nagoya Arsenal circle marking. Straight steel crossguard. Hardwood grips secured by Hex head fasteners. Late rectangular pommel. Green painted steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains 50% of its original thinning blue. Balance of metal shows numerous grind marks & evidence of hurried production. Flat sided grips have no attempt at shaping. Scabbard has lightly worn flaking paint. 5) Late Production Type 30 Bayonet. 15 5/8" blade. 20 1/8" overall. Blade marked on right ricasso "NATIONAL DENKI (national electric)". Straight crossguard. Hardwood grips secured by two rivets. Grips have been moderately shaped. Pommel has flat sides w/ moderate bird's head late production green painted wooden scabbard. Scabbard has metal tip & throat w/ two areas of wire reinforcement. CONDITION: blade retains a large percentage of the original blue finish w/ light wear. Balance of metal has traces of blue, turning patina. Grips have moderate wear & handling marks. Scabbard has wear, flaking paint & moderate crack between throat & first reinforcement. (02-24537-17/RW). NON-GUN. $400-600.
