TEAR GAS / FLARE LAUNCHER WITH CASE. Cal. 25mm. NSN. Bbl. 9 1/2". Type II 18-shot revolving tear gas / flare launcher produced by Manville Manufacturing Co., designed to fire 25mm flare, smoke, and riot gas projectiles. The top of the rear receiver is marked with patent information above "MANVILLE". Aluminum and steel construction. Some steel parts exhibit a blue finish, with the chambers, top plate of the rear receiver, and cocking knob assembly exhibiting a nickel plated finish. Grip and foregrip are mounted with 2-piece checkered black hard rubber grips, marked with an encircled "M" at the top of the panels. Brass bead front sight. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leatherette case with nickel plated fittings mfg. by Excelsior. Case contains a vintage poster from The Dogs of War, featuring Chrisopher Walken holding a Manville Type II. CONDITION: aluminum parts show scattered spots of age related discoloration and some corrosion, with the front upper portion exhibiting a crack at the rear. Blued parts retain most of their original finish, showing some wear and thinning, with scattered spots of oxidation and pitting. Nickel plated parts are very good overall. Bore exhibits scattered spots/patches of mild to moderate surface oxidation. Upper tube's threaded end does not stay in place. Trigger does not rotate the cyl. fully. Case shows wear overall, with the leather handle not longer being present. Metal handle fittings exhibit consistent surface oxidation overall.
