GRADE JOHN WAYNE 100TH ANNIVERSARY LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX. Cal. 44-40. S# JW100H2593. Bbl. 18 1/2". Model 1892 High Grade John Wayne 100th anniversary lever action rifle mfg. in Japan by Miroku, imported by BACO, and retailed by Winchester. The left side of the bbl. is marked with the Winchester trademark logo, followed by "MODEL 1892 John Wayne High Grade - - Caliber 44-40 Win. ONLY", with Miroku's mfg. and BACO's importer information marked on the right. Top of the bbl. is marked John Wayne's signature. Left side of the receiver features scroll engraving, with a small portrait of John Wayne atop a horse, followed by "1907", "JOHN WAYNE AMERICAN", and "2007" within a banner, as well as a portrait of John Wayne. Right side of the receiver features matching pattern scroll engraving, with a portrait of John Wayne, followed by "COURAGE", "STRENGTH", and "GRIT" within a banner, and "JW" between a "JOHN WAYNE" and "CENTENNIAL" banner. Receiver, lever (with enlarged loop), and bbl. bands exhibit a nickel nitride finish, with remaining metal components exhibiting a blue finish overall. Plain wood straight grip buttstock, with plain wood forend. Right side of the buttstock is inlaid with a John Wayne commemorative medallion. Pinned brass blade front sight, with flip-up U-notch ladder rear sight. Receiver tang features a safety switch. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: matching factory box, with commemorative sleeve. Lot is also accompanied by an unmarked shipping box. CONDITION: near new, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory finishes overall. Lever retains its factory hang tag, with the saddle ring retaining its protective paper sheet. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Wood furniture is excellent overall. Box is very good, with the cardboard sleeve showing some spots of light to mild wear. An exceptionally attractive example of a Winchester John Wayne 100th anniversary Model 1892 rifle, which would be difficult to upgrade from. (25-1644/MLW). MODERN. $1,800-2,700.
