BOLT ACTION SHORT RIFLE. Cal. 7mm Mauser. S# 4953H. Numbers match on receiver, buttstock & trigger guard. Import marked at bottom of bbl. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears. Bbl. 22". This scarce rifle w/ crisp legible markings is listed in "Mauser Military Rifles Of The World" by Ball as being produced at Itajuba Arsenal in cal. 30-06 however this CZ marked rifle is in 7mm Mauser. The receiver ring is marked on the right side "MOD. 1908/34". Receiver ring is marked on top w/ crisp legible Brazilian crest & marked on left side w/ encircled "T" property mark. Left receiver rail is marked "CESKOSLOVENSKA ZBROJOVKA, A.S. BRNO". Turned down bolt handle. Bayonet bar & cleaning rod are present. Upper band w/ parade hook retained by screw. Lower band retained by spring, has side & bottom swivel. Walnut stock set. Buttstock has grasping grooves. Recoil bolt is not dished. Bases are present on butt for side & bottom swivels. Buttstock has painted rack # "61". Disk is unmarked. Stock has flag w/ encircled "B" in diamond behind marking disk. Flat buttplate. Hand guard extends from receiver ring approx. 3/4" beyond lower band. CONDITION: stock set has mod. wear, staining & handling marks. Hand guard has sm. missing chips at right rear. Metal turning patina where traces of blue, light wear, oxidation & fine pitting. Bore has prominent lands turning dark in grooves. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy collection. (23-175/RW). CURIO.
