F.W. EVANS. A carved wooden name plate from the desk of General Evans, likely from when he was in charge of the Combat Cargo Taskforce. The plate reads "Brig. Gen. F. W. Evans". Evans was born in Lawrence, MA in 1898, and after attending Hobart College, he enlisted as a flying cadet in October of 1917. After completing Balloon School at Fort Omaha, NB, he was commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the Aviation Section of the Signal Officer’s Reserve Corps. CONDITION: desk plate shows light overall wear.
