MODEL LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 44 HRF. S# 129041. Bbl. 24" octagon w/ King's Improvement marking. Sporting leaf rear w/ base only for rocky mountain front sight. Full length mag. Brass action has scroll engraving w/ punch dot backgrounds that is likely the work of John Ulrich. Left sideplate has an open circular vignette. Complementary engraving continues to forend cap & peak of brass crescent buttplate. Forend & straight grip stock are custom replacements of exhibition quality Bastogne walnut. Their full fiddle figure is highlighted by rich orange & brown tones w/ dark streaking. Stock & forend cap use original sling swivels. MFG. 1876. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating: "Serial number application date not available / Type: Rifle / Engraved / Received in Warehouse on January 15,1876 / Shipped from warehouse on January 16, 1876, Order number 2654". CONDITION: Metal has faded to gray showing very light pitting & marks. Cleaned brass shows small marks. Stocks have very good custom finish. sound action. Dark lightly pitted bore has sound rifling.
