MARKED MAUSER MODEL 1934 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 582872. Bbl. 3 1/2". 1 of approx. 8,000 1st Variation Model 1934 semi-automatic pistols mfg. by Mauser for the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. This example is listed by S# and property # on page 171 of "Axis Pistols", by Jan C. Still. The left side of the slide is marked with the S# within a milled panel, followed by "MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.N.", with "Cal. 7,65 D.R.P.u.A.P." marked on the right. Sideplate is marked with the Mauser banner logo, followed by an engraved Kriegsmarine Eagle/M proof. Front grip strap is engraved "N/ 6231", indicating Nordsee issue. Metal components exhibit a polished blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece checkered wood wrap around grip, which has been lightly sanded and re-checkered. Fixed half-moon blade front sight, with dovetailed U-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, sideplate, slide, and bbl. MAGS: 1 blued 8-rd. mag., marked with the Mauser banner logo, followed by "N7201 X" on the floorplate. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina overall. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grip shows some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. PROVENANCE: The Estate Collection of Charles Wagner. (25-345/MLW).
