WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 DELUXE LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN DESIRABLE 45-70. Cal. 45-70. S# 84268. Bbl. 26" octagon to rnd. Rifle features a multitude of special order features. Sporting front sight, graduated leaf rear sight, with added combination tang sight. 2/3 length tubular mag. Blue finish with case colored action and forearm cap. Forearm and pistol grip stock of XX fancy walnut, with style H factory checkering, original hard rubber buttplate having a black insert on the underside of the pistol grip. Left inside of lower tang is stamped with assembly # "177", followed by wood grade marking "XX". Additional markings are "SRB" on tang, with "0" on the mainspring retaining lug. Top tang channel of the stock has matching assembly # "177". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating "Rifle/ 45/70/ 1/2 octagon barrel/ Plain trigger/ Checkered stock/ Pistol Grip/ Oil finish/ Lyman sights/ 2/3 magazine/ Shotgun butt/ Rubber buttplate/ Received in warehouse on December 9, 1893/ Shipping from the warehouse on December 9, 1893,/ with one other arm to order number". CONDITION: bbl. and mag. tube retain 70% original blue, showing edge wear, with small spots of surface oxidation. Action shows some fading case colors on its sides. Stocks have aged darkened and worn original finish showing scattered scratches marks and dings. Mechanically fine. Good bore retains lightly worn rifling, with scattered areas of very light pitting.
