DRUMS. Cal. 7.62x39. S# RPDS10792. Bbl. 20 1/2" threaded w/ serrated protector. An American made, closed bolt, civilian version of the iconic RPD (Ruchnoi Pulemet Degtyarev). Once bearing the distinction of the lightest squad auto in existence, this variant weighs in at around 15 lbs. unloaded. It is chambered in 7.62x39 & has been extremely popular among recreational shooters since its introduction. Fed from 50 rd. non disintegrating metallic belts that feed from an appropriate sized drum that are both readily available on the surplus market. The top cover & even the belts loosely resemble similar period German firearms, though there is nothing interchangeable & are completely different designs. Gas operated firing mechanism w/ a complicated but reliable push through feeding system. Right side controls & right side non reciprocating folding charging handle. Matte blued metal finish. Partially hooded protected post front sight. Tangent rear sight elevation adj. from 100 to 1000m; also windage adj. Sight radius 23". Folding front bipod. Laminated hardwood furniture. Left side sling attachment points. Polish marked top cover. MAGS: 5 steel 100 rd. drums w/ 50 rd. belts, in green canvas cases. CONDITION: all outward aspects indicate very little use. Bluing on exposed surfaces is uniform & complete w/ light thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. Bright bore w/ strong rifling. Only a few light impressions / scratches on furniture. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (25-4274/JZ). MODERN. $3,000-4,000
