Cal. 30 Luger. S# 8917. Bbl. 3 7/8". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol originally mfg. by DWM under contract for the Imperial German military in 1918, and subsequently rechambered after the war in 7.65x21mm Parabellum, possibly for the Finnish order of 8,000 1920 Commercials or a bring back from a Finnish soldier who was in the 27th Jager battalion during WWI (this example not exhibiting any of the telltale signs of a Finnish used "M/23", aside from the Pri Garden City import mark, which has been frequently encountered on Finnish Lugers by this cataloger). The bbl. extension is marked "1918" over the chamber, with a triad of DWM inspection proofs and an Imperial German reichsadler marked on the right (reichsadler repeated on left side of breechblock). Toggle is marked with the intertwined "DWM" monogram logo. Rear of frame exhibits a "PRI GARDEN CITY KS/ P08 30 LUGER GERMANY" import marked on either side fo the stock lug. Metal components exhibit a rust blue finish overall, save for on some small parts including the takedown lever, trigger, safety lever, and ejector, which are strawed. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight (rear face painted yellow) and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching in the "exposed" military fashion, and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the grips. Bbl. is unnumbered and unproofed. MAGS: x1 plated 8-rd. mag. with wood plug exhibiting (an apparent renumbered or possibly Finnish renumbered) "8917". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their apparent original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light to mild wear and thinning (primarily on edges), as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation. Bbl. extension exhibits surface levels dings around the date over the chamber. Strawed parts retain large amounts of their finish, exhibiting some spots / patches of light to mild wear and thinning fading to gray patina, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few small spots of what appears to be either hardened grease or light surface oxidation, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sound. (25-6079/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,400.
