OPENING IMPERIAL GRADE SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH NEWLY MADE STOCKS, EXTRA BARRELS AND CASE. Cal. 20 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 42276 (1930). Original chopper lump barrel set measures 25-5/8" and is fitted with narrow matted game rib. Tops of barrels are engraved "Aug. Lebeau-Courally FOURNISSAUR" "DES PRINCIPALES Cours de l' Europe". Barrel flats are stamped with 1930 Italian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers and 1956 Spanish re-proofs. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with Wahlreyne steel and choke info. A sling loop is soldered to bottom rib. Second set of barrels also measure 25-5/8" and have no maker's marks. Barrel flats are stamped with 1976 Italian nitro proofs and are of chopper lump construction. These barrels fit action perfectly and are of high quality. Coin finished reinforced sidelock action features non-automatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, Purdey type self-opening system and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved in classic Renaissance pattern with ribbons and flower bursts surrounded by a sea of small scroll. The scrolled ribbon on left lockplate is engraved with maker's name and address. Right ribbon is engraved "FAIT POUR S. CORTE A GENES". Relief engraved olive leaves with olives are on bottom of action and fences. Blued top lever has pierced and sculpted thumb piece and is gold inlaid "1". Engraver's signature "M. Hannay" (well known Liege engraver) is on trigger plate. Trigger guard with matching floral engraving has S# on tang. Gun is fitted with original straight grip buttstock of classically marbled and figured Circassian walnut. It measures 13-7/8" over checkered wood butt and features drop points, point pattern grip checkering, vacant gold oval and sling loop. (A newly factory made buttstock is included which has an approx. length of pull of 14-3/4".) Stock maker's name "MAURO SABATTI" is in trigger guard channel. Splinter ejector forend with Anson release has newly fashioned wood matching new buttstock. Original forend wood is included. Both are inlet with gold Lebeau Courally crest on uncheckered central diamonds. MEASUREMENTS: (Original) BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .623. R .634. Restriction: L .030 (full choke). R .030 (full choke). Both barrel sets retain most of their black; original set of course being re-blacked. Action and lockplates have been lightly re-polished restoring attractive coin finish and engraving remains sharp and clear. Original buttstock has wood surface slightly under metal and shows considerable wear on drop points. It has an oil refinish and checkering has been re-cut. Original forend which is not mounted on iron appears to be the same condition. Recent stocks show only a few minor marks in their original finish. Bores are bright and shiny without any visible imperfections except for one or two pits that did not polish out of original barrels. Action is tight (very tight with second set of barrels) ejectors are strong and in time. Case leather is very fine with some marks. Interior is fine. Straps and handle are good. (25-931/MGM). CURIO. $7,000-12,000.
