PISTOL. Cal. 54. S# NSN. Bbl. 8 1/2" marked on top w/ "P" plus additional marking "US". Lock w/ flat beveled plate w/ rounded tail is from an1817 Common rifle. The plate is marked in a semi circle below pan "N. STARR & SON sunburst U.S." Tail is marked vertically "MIDDTN / CONN / 1841". Lock is equipped w/ brass pan w/ bridle reinforced hammer. Iron furniture including bbl. band w/ lip. Sideplate is marked w/ tiny "z". Unmarked walnut stock. Replacement ramrod w/ brass tip. CONDITION: stock set has vintage refinish w/ wear & numerous handling marks. Stock also has a number of scattered vice marks. Metal is in the white showing extensive cleaning over oxidation & moderate pitting throughout. Lock is in notably better condition w/ crisp markings. Lock appears to function correctly. Dark oxidized bore w/ light pitting. (01-23044/RW). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
