Overall length: 38". Blade length: 32". A very interesting heavy saber exhibiting characteristics of both British and German influence. The blade has a single wide fuller and is etched on a 4 1/2" panel at about the midpoint "XIIth LANCERS.". Iron hilt with heavy guard and small, rectangular languets. Heavy, thick quillon and equally heavy knuckle bow. Phrygian cap pommel with plain backstrap. Wire-wrapped leather grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light to medium gray, cleaned patina, as does the hilt. Grip shows some shrinkage but is virtually complete, and the wire is 100%. (02-23016/BF). $500-800.
