PISTOL. Cal. .69. NSN. Bbl. 9". A classic Dutch or Belgian flintlock sea service pistol from the late 1820s or 1830s. The round bbl. is unmarked, and the lock shows a single stamp to the rear of the pan that reads "DN." Brass trigger guard, buttcap, and screw escutcheons. The butt has two large iron screws with a central iron lanyard ring. The bbl. is secured by a rectangular bar that would have had a brass escutcheon on each side (now missing). Heavy stock with no evidence of a nosecap. CONDITION: metal has a dark patina but remains unpitted. Lock functions well. Brass has a mellow, mustard patina. Stock shows expected dents and dings but no notable damage. Trigger guard screw is missing, as is the bbl. pin escutcheons. Fine bore. (01-26039/BF). ANTIQUE. $400-700.
