Cal. about .55. NSN. Bbl. 33 1/2". A nice example of an Edo or Meiji era matchlock musket. Full-length, octagon bbl. with triangular front sight. Iron pan with hinged brass cover. Brass cock, spring, and lock plate; screw escutcheons, rudimentary butt plate, trigger, and breech band are also brass. Original stock with three Japanese characters heavily stamped into the butt. CONDITION: bbl. has a dark patina with visible shallow pitting. Lock and associated pieces all function well. Stock shows minor handling abrasions, but appears to have its original finish. Fair bore is a bit dirty. (01-26063/BF). ANTIQUE. $800-1,200.
