Cal. 52. S# 32589. Brass mounted 1859 carbines are often associated with the State of Georgia. Georgia had a quantity of Sharps on hand in state armory at beginning of war and there are a few early war photos of cavalrymen with carbines and a few Georgia identified brass mounted carbines are known. Standard configuration, 22" barrel, Sharps patent markings found behind rear sight, lock, & frame. Brass mounts include barrel band, forestock escutcheon, buttplate, blade front sight, & toolbox. CONDITION: very good, complete & original. Iron has brown patina, markings all discernable, barrel "NEW MODEL 1859" is weak. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. (01-27009/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-4,000.
