Cal. 36. S# 108777. Standard configuration of early 1861 manufactured Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver, 7.5" octagonal barrel, one line New York address, left side of frame stamped "COLTS PATENT". This was the most popular privately purchased sidearm at the beginning of the Civil War by soldiers both North and South. Accompanying holster made in military style apparently from scraps, reminiscent of Confederate necessity accoutrements. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Colt factory letter stating shipped to Schuyler Hartley and Graham, NYC August 2, 1861 as one of 200 revolvers. CONDITION: very good overall, matching serial numbers on barrel, cylinder, frame, backstrap, trigger guard, & loading arm, & wedge, grips sound and ell fit. Cylinder has good clear rolled scene. Mechanics fine, good rifled bore. Holster very good, brass finial is loose. (01-26876/JS). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,500.
