A good example of an early English broadsword from the 16th century measuring 44" overall with a 38 1/4" double edged blade. The blade has a slightly raised medial ridge a heavy armorer's mark on one side. The crossguard is 10 1/4" across and there is a single ring and a single loop guard. Large mushroom style pommel with swirled lineal design. Full wire wrapped grip with no end pieces. CONDITION: The entire sword has a medium gray patina with some minor variation. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (02-24690/BF). $2000-3000.
