This fine early broadsword dates from the late 17th or early 18th century and likely originates from England or Western Europe. Overall length 37 1/2". Blade length 31 1/8”. The doubled edged blade has various marks, letters & talismans stamped near the hilt. Iron hilt has a double kidney shaped guard & a plain downturned quillon. Plain knuckle bow with 2 branches near the guard. Large globular pommel and wire wrapped grip with Turk’s head ferrule. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray cleaned mottled patina and the hilt has a similar patina. Grip & Turk’s head ferrule are complete and show light to moderate wear. (02-19474/BF). $1,200-1,800.
