Cal. 65. NSN. Bbl. 12" oct. to rnd., w/ cannon muzzle is unmarked & engraved w/ some scroll. Sanphaunce lock is nicely filed & has removable pan w/ sliding cover & file decorated cock & frizzen. Lock engraved w/ open scroll & acanthus. Screw which retains cock is relief engraved w/ a cherub's face. Interior of lock has nicely filed components & has maker's mark B:Z at bottom. Walnut stock is pinned to bbl. & extends to w/ in a 1/4" of muzzle & is iron mounted. Mounts are either relief engraved or pierced & are quite fancy. Bulbous spurred grip cap has demon's head on boss. Sideplate has many piercings through its scroll & floral motifs. Fancy trigger plate has the same treatment. Trigger guard has relief engraved finial & bow. Other pierced scroll is at top of grip. Walnut ramrod has fancy turned & decorated tip & is held by relief engraved pipe & matching thimble. CONDITION: fair to good. Metal parts cleaned to pewter gray & silver w/ scattered pitting. Stock has a number of repairs at front portion of lock & at butt, which has considerable filler.
