Cal. 8mm Murata. S# 588. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Bolt parts are mismatched, but other visible numbers are matching. Bbl. shank has an intact mum. Receiver markings have white highlight paint. Blued finish. Asian hardwood stock with bottom-mounted sling swivels and leather sling. Right side of butt has a roundel with Kanji and a faded boxed marking likely for a school. CONDITION: refinished stock set with a thickly added varnish, repaired crack to left of upper tang, a couple handguard cracks, a couple chips, scattered dings, and handling marks. Bolt appears cleaned with scattered pitting and some oxidation. Balance of metal retains perhaps 30% arsenal blue with overall fading to gray, some pitting on bbl., and scattered oxidation. Action appears to be functional when hand-cycled. Bore shows some scattered pitting and frosting but evident rifling. (01-25853/MJC). ANTIQUE. $1,500-2,000.
