. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 44308. Bbl. 19". Fine early Tokyo Arsenal example w/ first model bayonet housing. Dust cover & floorplate have mismatched assembly numbers. All other visible parts have assembly number "333". Receiver top has fully intact mum & Type 44 markings. Left side of receiver has Tokyo Arsenal marking & serial number. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Stacking hook & 13" spike bayonet present. Asian hardwood stock w/ two piece construction, left side sling swivels & strong Kanji markings on underside of butt. CONDITION: stock retains a strong amount of Urushi finish w/ a couple handguard cracks, scattered dings, dents, scratches & handling wear. Rear sight base & bolt release retain strong amounts of straw w/ some oxidation. Balance of metal retains 60% arsenal blue w/ areas turning brown & some oxidation. Bore shows scattered dried grease & oxidation but evident rifling & may clean up better. (23-5541/MJC). CURIO. $500-900.
