Cal. 7.7 Jap. S# 97751. Bbl. 25 1/2". Blade front sight with protective ears. One ear is a bit bent. Ladder aperture rear sight graduated to 1500m that is missing its AA wings. Matching numbers on receiver & bayonet lug. Bolt parts are mismatched. Early "No-series" 99 short rifle. Receiver top has ground mum & Type 99 markings. Left side of receiver has Nagoya symbol & serial number. Blued finish. Front action screw appears to be a replacement. Asian hardwood stock with two-piece butt & left side sling swivels. No cleaning rod present. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Kokura/Tokyo Arsenal made Type 30 bayonet. Bayonet has crudely enlarged muzzle ring, brightly finished handle & hooked crossguard. No scabbard present. CONDITION: worn stock set retains a high degree of Urushi finish with a set of English initials carved into on both sides of butt, a few small cracks, overall dings, dents & handling marks. Metal is an overall dull gray patina with scattered oxidation & traces of original blue. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good + bright bore. (25-2114/MJC). CURIO. $300-400.
