YORK. Cal. 70. NSN. Bbl. 38 5/8", is unproofed & marked "MOORE." on top (possibly John Moore working around 1800, although the style of this gun is much earlier). Incorrect poor quality trade lock has stamped scroll engraving & does not mate against bbl. correctly. Walnut stock w/ deep hand rail designed comb, has raised platform around bbl. tang & sm. palm swell. Stock extends to w/in 4" of muzzle & is pinned to bbl. Brass furniture is of short land style, but scaled down. There is a silver oval inlet at top of grip. CONDITION: bbl. cleaned long ago, now a light brown w/ possible reconversion from percussion. Incorrect lock is also gray brown patina. Stock has old oil refinish over numerous marks. Cleaned brass toning to mustard. Lock cocks, but will not fire. Pitted bore.
